“Once in a Lifetime, Never Again” is a lyrical piece for young to intermediate band. At the same time, it offers a lot of opportunity with more advanced ensembles to work on expressive qualities and intonation.  “Once in a Lifetime, Never Again” speaks to how I think we are all feeling over the last year.  Nothing has been normal, and most of our daily lives have been disrupted.  I feel students can relate to the feelings of challenge, loss of normalcy, but still have an optimism looking ahead to a brighter time, and that brighter time is what this piece is really trying to represent. Hopefully, this is once in a lifetime, but never again.
