“...with honors...”

This work was written in honor of the late
Frederick Fennell. Fennell was a man of
great energy when he conducted, even up to
the end of his life. "…with honors…" is a
tribute to him. I use several small motives from
his favorite work, Linicolnshire Posy, to help
create the nostalgic quality of the piece.
Starting serenely and ending with energy depicts
Fennell's life and the way in which he seemed to
live it.
