Subliminal Designs, a concerto for clarinet and chamber orchestra, was composed by means of visual representation of the desired music outcome. Tessitura, rhythmic intensity, timbre, and spatial pitch representation were effectively prescribed on the macrocompositional level rather than the micro, where I retained significant compositional autonomy.

You can see a sample of the techniques I used in the following image. The Bradley New Music Ensemble made this recording at Bradley University. Subliminal Designs was premiered at the University of Michigan with Dr. Stephen Heinemann soloing and Eric J. Bell conducting.
